AfPP Robotics Symposium 2025

 Abstract Submission Guidelines

You are invited to submit an abstract for the opportunity to present your research in poster form at the ‘AfPP Robotics Symposium 2025’ on 11th June. 

This unique one-day symposium event is to discuss and learn all the new developments in surgical robotics. The topics will include enhancing patient outcomes utilising robotic surgery and the development of the robotic service. The symposium will be featuring international leaders in both the research and clinical fields of general robotic surgery; the programme will highlight the benefits and challenges around the advancements in robotic surgery, it will highlight the new technologies utilised and specialist surgeries it supports.. There are also sessions covering anaesthetic considerations, robotic leadership and developing the theatre workforce. Thus, abstracts/posters MUST be relevant to the above. 

Please submit a poster following the guidelines below, for a chance to showcase your work and to win a £250 voucher of your choice

Eligibility 

The competition is open to all healthcare professionals or student healthcare professionals.  

Prize 

1st prize: £250 voucher, 2nd prize: £100 voucher. 

All approved abstracts will be contacted to inform they have been selected and to proceed in producing their posters for the conference. The approved posters will be displayed as part of the exhibition viewing and conference breaks. AfPP will also share all posters for digital viewing as part of the electronic resources to all conference participants (with the agreement of the authors). 

The winning author will feature a Spotlight article in the IPP e-magazine, including an image of the poster and interview video.    

How to enter 

  • All abstract applications must be submitted by 30th April at 12.00pm. We aim to notify you if you have been selected by 10th May 2025. 
  • Please follow the guidelines below; failure to follow the guidelines could result in disqualification from the competition. 

Submission guidelines 

  • Abstracts must be relevant to field of Perioperative Robotics; 
  • Abstracts are up to 350-word limit. This does not include references. 

Key information  

  • Previously published work is not eligible. Work that has been presented at a hospital, school, or regional meetings will be considered.  
  • Authors selected to present their poster will be offered x1 complimentary ticket to the AfPP Robotics Symposium 2025 to display their work.  

What happens next? 

  • The closing date for entries is 30th April 2025 at 12.00pm. 
  • A panel of judges will assess all submissions shortly after the closing date. Authors will be notified by 10th May 2025 if they have been invited to display their poster at the AfPP Robotic Symposium 2025. 
  • Prizes and Certificates will be awarded for the best two posters at the conference. 

Poster presentation guidelines (relevant for selected candidates) 

If you have been selected to present your abstract in poster form at the AfPP Robotic Symposium 2025, you must follow these guidelines. 

  • All expenses associated with submission of the poster, conference registration fees, are the responsibility of the presenter. 
  • Please submit the poster in the landscape PowerPoint version and with a PDF for best viewing. Please, clearly label your poster with title, author/s and contact details. 
  • There is no word limit, but posters should contain between one and five images, tables or graphs. 
  • Posters must include a content structure that progresses through title, authors, organisation introduction, objectives, methods, results, conclusion, acknowledgements and references. 
  • All posters must be non-commercial in nature and not be used as a marketing opportunity. Non-compliance with this rule will result in the poster being rejected. 
  • All submitted posters will be made available electronically as a .pdf document for conference participants.  
  • Selected candidates must email a PDF copy of their poster and a high-resolution headshot image to events@afpp.org.uk by 30th May 2025. 
  • The selected posters MUST be posted and delivered to the AfPP Team by 30th May 2025, so they can be assembled for display at the conference venue.
