Role: Link Member
Reports To: AfPP Membership Department
Location: Region & remote working
Role summary: Our volunteers play a vital role in helping us to advance patient safety in operating departments across the UK. As a Link Member you can help us achieve this by increasing awareness of our membership benefits and sharing your knowledge and experience with your perioperative colleagues.
Link Members are an important connection between AfPP and perioperative practitioners. You are able to use your influence and contacts to help build awareness of AfPP and the work we do.
As a Link Member you are the face of AfPP in your workplace.

How you can help:
- Build awareness of AfPP, our aims and the work we do to improve patient safety and care.
- Develop an AfPP presence in your workplace.
- Develop an AfPP section on your theatre or university noticeboards to display information.
- Recruit new AfPP members.
- Work with and support the regional AfPP teams to promote educational activities.
- Give feedback to AfPP HQ and complete Link Member surveys about how AfPP is perceived in the workplace.
- Request additional materials from HQ when required.
- Attend our bi-annual online Link Member meetings for you to discuss ideas and share experiences with other Link Members and representatives from AfPP.
We will:
- Provide you with up-to-date information to display and share with your colleagues.
- Listen to and consider your feedback and suggestion.
- Provide you with details of how many new members you have recruited (in your member portal) and recognise your commitment to the work of AfPP.
Commitment
- As a minimum, commit to updating your workplace noticeboard quarterly with materials we send to you.
- Be open to explaining to interested colleagues who we are and what we offer to our members.

As a Link Member, you’ll receive the resources you need to help promote AfPP within your workplace.
Additionally, you may wish to support the Association in other ways, such as delivering talks during internal audit days or hosting an AfPP stand at a hospital event. If so, please reach out to us, we’d be happy to provide the necessary materials to support you.
